Our Goal.

Empowering parents and Infant teachers with tools to prepare every child especially Deaf or Hard of Hearing or KODA child for Pre-K Standards. Clerc's Children creates a safe community where parents are supported in their decision to provide a linguistically inclusive home environment for their child by connecting them with other parents, professionals, researchers and community members who are "dual language friendly" and support language development and communication access.

The Objective.

Parent's Zone features include eight components:

  • Daily News Feeds that provide language development awareness and encourage daily commitment to have interactive lessons with your child.
  • Journal where parents can log their feelings and experiences.
  • Access to a network of "dual language friendly" professionals.
  • Links to pertinent research.
  • Access to IFSP information and guidelines.
  • Language Log to track child's progression.
  • Assessment is given every six months to track child's dual language growth.
  • "Communication Profile" where parents can view three video interviews a month focusing on language and communication access and development experiences of deaf or hard of hearing adults as children, the decisions and journey parents made and evidence base interviews with leading researchers across the country.

Birth to Six Month Program:

In response to the newborn hearing screening identification, Clerc's Children developed a birth to 6 month curriculum for early interaction and early communication access so parents can take advantage of these critical early months of language development. Because parents are focused on all the decisions necessary in establishing an inclusive language plan which includes auditory treatment, speech training and language development, the infant often misses out on valuable early language exposure that builds a strong foundation for them to become contributing citizens.
