Our Goal:

The rigorously researched based National Institute of Literacy's states that the building blocks of literacy begin to develop in infancy at home with day-to-day activities and exposure to language in all forms (speech, visual, print, etc.) Clerc's Children in accordance provides various forms of exposure that make up such building blocks. Poems and Stories are just another building block that encourages early literacy skills.

Our Objective:

This is a place where children can be exposed to bi-literacy used in fun ways that will enrich their minds and expand their imagination and create a foundation for early literacy in both languages English and American Sign Language.

How to use:

Children will see native signers tell fun animated poems and stories using the handshape of the month. Printable coloring and activity pages correspond to the monthly handshape as well. The native signers also translate nursery rhymes and songs into signing versions. Have fun with the four new stories and poems posted every month, learn them together and practice telling them to friends and family.
